Robson Square: 2010 Olympic Celebrations

When the BC Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Secretariat (BC Secretariat) of the Ministry of Finance chose to use Robson Square as a central and primarily public venue from which to promote British Columbia during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, it chose Pace Group to develop and execute a wide range of public programming.

Pace Group provided comprehensive event management services which included: sourcing, scheduling and managing dozens of entertainment performances; managing all operational and staffing aspects of the ice rink and concession zone; and coordinating dozens of athlete celebrations and special events for government, business and tourism events.

During the 2010 Winter Olympic Games, Robson Square became the place to be for visitors, families and school groups seeking to experience the excitement of the Games. Lit at night by 165,000 white LED lights and laser and pyrotechnic shows, Robson Square and its exciting and free programming had everyone who experienced it come away saying, “You Gotta be Here.”

Pace Group has continued to operate the rink and entertainment stage year-round for the past five years since the Games, helping make Robson Square one of Vancouver’s favourite free family entertainment venues. Since we began our partnership with Robson Square, nearly two million people have visited the outdoor venue to enjoy free skating and entertainment programming.
